Part therapist, part mom, and full-time creative thinker, Cara built The Executive Function Institute to make executive function skills easier to teach, learn, and live.
At the Executive Function Institute, we believe every child has the potential to thrive when equipped with the right tools built on their strengths. Founded by Dr. Cara Koscinski, a pediatric occupational therapist and parent of neurodiverse children, the Institute was created to make executive function skills accessible, visual, and actionable for professionals, caregivers, and learners alike.
Our mission is to transform how executive function is understood and supported by combining evidence-based strategies, visual learning, movement, and neuro-affirming practices. We specialize in tools that help children build skills like planning, time management, working memory, organization, and self-regulation, all through a compassionate, child-centered lens.
At the heart of our work is The Executive Function Express, a train-themed model that turns abstract thinking skills into concrete, relatable visuals. This framework connects brain-body integration with sensory regulation, interoception, and cognitive growth making it easier for children to stay "on track" in the classroom, at home, and in life.
We offer books, workbooks, downloadable resources, live and online courses, and professional training designed to support educators, therapists, and families working with neurodiverse learners, including those with ADHD, autism, and learning differences.
Whether you're just starting your journey or looking to deepen your support toolbox, The Executive Function Institute is here to guide you. Strengths-based strategies, real world success!
